Amazonat Jungle Lodges

Amazonat Jungle Lodges, our base camp, lies nestled in a clearing in a terra firme secondary forest. Comfortable cabins and guest areas like our restaurant/bar, game room, library and internet corner are among the many amenities offered to make our guests’ stays as pleasant as possible. A refreshing pool, beautiful natural white sand beach and orchid and tropical fruit tree gardens await our guests. They provide a place of relaxation and contemplation after a day spent exploring the wealth of river and rainforest ecosystems around us. For visitors with longer stays, well-marked trails provide hours of further rainforest exploration. Our many amenities make Amazonat ideal for families. There is plenty to keep everybody entertained. Visitors find the lodge itself has so much to offer that they often add a few days to their package to take advantage of it all.

Accommodations

Amazonat Jungle Lodge can accommodate 36 guests on a double occupancy basis. We have 9 cabins containing two apartments each. Our standard rooms include a bedroom with a queen size bed, a sitting room with a double sofa bed and single bed. Our spacious deluxe rooms are beautifully decorated with local hardwoods and offer a queen size bed and double sofa. All rooms have a private bathroom with shower, wireless internet connection, a mini fridge, and safe, and are fully screened with fans to keep the apartments cool. Nights in the region, however, are cool and fresh due to the presence of nearby rivers. The acidity of the blackwater rivers in the area inhibits mosquito larvae growth making stays virtually mosquito free! All cabins have a terrace and hammock where guests can relax with the sights and sounds of the surrounding rainforest .

Built on 10 meter (33 feet) high stilts in the local indigenous style, Bouina Legend House is our reception building where we welcome our guests with a refreshing drink. It is named after the native legend of the Boiúna or Great Cobra, Mother of all the waters of the Amazon. Our receptionist will be happy to help with any questions or information to make guests’ stays more enjoyable.

In the Bouina Legend House guests will also find the following:

Shop - Beautiful t-shirts, carefully selected local arts and crafts and homeopathic products.

Internet café – Need to link up with the rest of the world? Here guests can check emails and consult the Internet. We also have a wireless connection for guests with their own electronic devices.

Library – Our library includes a collection of reference books of Amazon flora and fauna with a study area where guests can get more in-depth information on what they experience in their excursions. There is also a popular paperback section where guests can trade in their used books.

Exhibition area – We have several informative displays including archeological objects found during the construction of the ecolodge and scientific research carried out at Amazonat.

Restaurant

Arara Restaurant is an authentic Sataré Mauwè “maloca” or house. The Sataré Mauwè is a local tribe in this region. The restaurant is completely open with a thatched roof that is made from more than 3.500 palm leaves. It is a great place to meet and chat with fellow guests while enjoying delicious meals.

We are especially proud of our kitchen. Visitors from around the world frequently praise it. We prepare local and international specialties including vegetarian meals. All ingredients used are fresh and supplied locally with many coming from our own herb, vegetable and fruit gardens. A choice of two or three entrées is offered daily.

Game House

This building is found between the Bouina Legend House reception and Arara Restaurant and offers our guests an area for both entertainment and relaxation. Inside, visitors will find a pool table, a sitting area and many table games. On the wall are large maps of the region and our reserve with details of the surrounding rivers, forests, trails and locations of the different Amazonat accommodations. Presentations before each excursion are given here so guests are well informed as to what they will be visiting and where.

Walking Trails

In addition to the short trails within the camp, Amazonat Jungle Lodge has three well-marked walking trails connecting the ecolodge with Jane’s Place, our jungle survival camp. Eight kilometers (5 miles) of trails traverse the primary forest where you will be surrounded by enormous trees and lush vegetation. Each trail takes about 2-3 hours one way and can be combined with other trails for longer circuits. Depending on their time and energy, guests may do all or part of a trail and combine it with a stay at Jane’s Place. Trail excursions require a guide and are best suited for guests who come for longer stays or those particularly interested in jungle trekking.
